The “Building Legacies” programme, a partnership of private and public sector organisations, is a flagship local procurement and business support project of the East London Business Place (ELBP) and Newham College of Further Education’s Centre for Innovation & Partnerships (CIPs). It has been approved under ERDF Priority Axis 3: Enhancing the Competitiveness of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises.

The project aims to support a diverse range of SMEs (predominantly from the Construction, Creative & Digital and Care sectors) to take advantage of new market opportunities presented by a programme of regeneration across the London Thames Gateway, through provision of the practical advice and support needed to build the capacity required to grow and win contracts with buyers and/or their supply-chains across various business sectors. Established and new enterprises shall receive a minimum 12 hours assistance to result in the introduction of new to the firm products and resultant profitability and employment increases.

We need to appoint an enthusiastic, innovative and commercially aware Business Growth Manager (BGM) who has prime responsibility for business support, supply-chain brokerage and realisation of associated employment opportunities in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. We require a BGM with strong and pro-active business development skills and a full knowledge of procurement and sales cycles, who partners well with internal support structures and external interfaces to achieve individual targets, project goals, organisation and client objectives.

The successful applicant for the role will require:

  • Experience of working within and/or supporting small or medium sized businesses
  • Knowledge of procurement and contract-brokerage routines and fit-to-supply requirements
  • Excellent networking/relationship-building, social media and client recruitment skills
  • An awareness of working within ERDF-funded programmes and the associated stringent evidence requirements
  • A high degree of self-motivation, IT and project management skills
